Art Deco Table Lamp

Most people don’t know that Art Deco was a popular design movement that spanned the world between 1925 until the 1940s.  It ecompassed architecture, interior and industrial design, the graphic arts, film, and the decorative arts.  The Art Deco table lamp is an example of this design – elegant and glamorous, yet functional, modern, and geometric.

For the people who lived between the two world wars, this style was a reaction to the forced minimalism of the time.  It’s opulence can be seen in the art deco table lamps that we have featured.  One can imagine a generation sick of war, sick of financial calamity, that wanted geometric shapes to soothe them.  As F. Scott Fitzgerald pointed out – the style of Art Deco came from all the nervous energy stored up and expended during the first World War.

Travel back in time.  Take a look at these beautiful art deco table lamps.  And if you like one, please click on the picture or title to order one.  Meanwhile, we will continue to fill this page with beautiful Art Deco Table Lamps for your enjoyment.

Satin Nickel Lamp

This Art Deco table lamp is 16 inches high and has a satin nickel plating.  It weighs 14 pounds and has a unique angled arm with a shade that swivels 360 degrees.  This is one of my favorite lamps in that it is modern and yet sophisticated.  It is perfect for an office or home study.  Truthfully,  this lamp is a classic.  It could be displayed in any home from the 1920s to today and fit in.  It doesn’t pull attention to itself and yet it can be a harmonious counterpoint to any other piece of furniture.

Nude Lady Lamp

Whereas the last art deco table lamp could be put anywhere in your house, we recommend that you put this lamp in your bedroom.  This Nude Lady Statue Art Deco Table Lamp is 16 inches high, 7 pounds, and a real powder cast sculpture.  It still has the geometric shapes that Art Deco is known for but this table lamp also has a softness and grace that make it an amazing representation of the Art Deco style.

The manufacturers recommned that you buy two of these lamps and put them on either side of the room.  There is an 0n/off switch on the cord.  The bottom of this art deco table lamp is padded.  Your furniture is safe from scratches.

This lamp is made using a proprietary technique from Great Britain which uses bronze powder in the cold cast resin.  The result is that the statue looks life-like and amazing.

Fan Lamp

The final Art Deco Table Lamp that we would like to highlight is the Art Deco Fan lamp.  It is 15 inches high and 22 pounds.  It is much heavier than the other lamps;  it is very solid.  The geometry on the fan and tassels plus the elegance of the lady holding up the fan is what puts this into the Art Deco camp.    The fan looks like something that might have been in your grandmother’s house.

Like the previously mentioned lamp – the Nude Lady lamp – this lamp is probably better to be placed in your bedroom (or living room) as opposed to the office.  (Unless your office is of the period).

How to Make your Own Table Lamp

This is a video about how to make your own table lamp (out of wood).  It is a very simple lamp but still functional.  Eventually, if we figure out how to create a well designed, beautiful Art Deco Table Lamp, we will create a video and post it here for your enjoyment.
